Mondays - $785.00 Grades K - 2 Fall 2022 Dates: Sept. 12, 19 Oct. 3, 17, 24, 31 Nov. 7, 14, 21, 28 Dec. 5, 12, 19 Jan. 9, 23Lights, Camera, Action! Learn how to Make and/or Act in a film this Fall. Aurora Skills is offering K-2 film-acting class after-school club. The class is open to those who are interested in learning how to act in front of the camera versus the stage. Students will learn story-telling, character development, screen writing, making backdrops (Art), staging, props, lighting and more. Students will work together in teams to write, act, shoot and edit their own short films. Every student is invited to participate in all aspects or just the areas that interest them. At the end of the term, teams will have at least one film that they have made, put on a DVD. Professional equipment, cameras, audio and editing software is provided. This is a great way to start acting reels for aspiring actors and production reels for aspiring filmmakers. The skills students will learn will benefit them in all the facets of their lives, from school applications, class projects, to learning viral marketing and beyond! -

Grades 2nd - 5th Fall 2022 Thursdays Sept. 15, 22, 29 Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 Nov. 10, 17 Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22 Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26 This club is for the serious artist. Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting in order to help them develop their individual styles and artistic skills. Our young artist will work at their own pace and will be taught individually; taking into account their personal interest, skills and needs. This class starts out with each child showcasing their already developed artistic skills. This will help our instructors to assess the individual levels. All students will be encouraged to draw freestyle. Eye training will be stressed throughout this program. Students will be taught the rules and techniques of fine art. They will be encouraged to explore the world of art pastels, water color and advance to acrylic and more. These young artists will learn about some of the famous artist as they create their own master pieces. -
Grades 3-5Required for this class: Windows desktop or laptop, Chromebook or Tablet Course Description: This class provides a powerful learning tool for budding programmers– using an advanced block coding format, Scratch teaches fundamental programming concepts also used in more complex languages such as Java and Python.Young students will learn these critical concepts by creating animations and computer games with interacting characters. Students will apply problem-solving skills to debug programs, make customizations and bring their imaginations to life! -
Thursdays Grades 3 - 5 Fall 2025 Dates: Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25 Oct. 9, 16, 23, 30 Nov. 13, 20 Dec. 4, 11, 18 Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29 BECOME A JUNIOR OUTDOOR HERO WITH WILDERNESS KNOW-HOW!! Students will learn to manage outdoor challenges, including insect bites, snake bites, and poisonous plants, alongside skills to use while hiking, map reading, compass use, and identifying animal tracks and wildlife encounters. They’ll also master survival techniques such as splint setting, tourniquet use, water purification, hypothermia care, and emergency banana use, additionally, they’ll cover how to respond to severe weather like tornadoes, hurricanes, and wildfires, and how to signal for help.Fee Transparency For transparency, Aurora Skills has elected to provide a breakdown of class/program fees to show the split between the program base cost and the PS6 School administrative costs. The administrative cost is not a new cost; it has always been there baked into the overall program cost. We are now happy share with our community the breakdown in the interest of transparency. Program base cost The base cost for the Wilderness Medicine program is $835 per student per semester. PS6 Afterschool administrative fee PS6 Afterschool programs also require access to the PS6 building, facilities, security, and custodianship; nursing coverage until 4PM; and ongoing facilitation and coordination across functions easily seen (like late pick-up on days when you need it) and back-office, no-spotlight work (like paying out city permits). PS6 Afterschool Administrative fee (includes nursing, permits, and coordination is - $160 per child per semester. In view of the above, the total cost per child per semester is: (a) Wilderness Medicine base cost - $835.00 (b) PS6 Administrative fee - $160.00 Total - $995.00 Refund Policy Aurora Skills may issue pro-rated refunds upon request, minus the cost of any classes that took place before the refund request. Refund requests must be submitted by September 20, 2025. Refunds will incur deductions for the cost of the classes that occurred prior to the request, plus a 4% bank processing fee of the total amount for the class in which the refund was requested. -

The students will engage in hands-on art activities while learning about the universe. They will use sustainable art supplies such a recyclable materials, paint, molding clay and so much more to creatively showcase the topics that will be explored. Topics may include: Can stars turn into planets? What happens if a space ship runs out of fuel? What is the color of the sun? What keeps space empty? Students will work on hands-on activities including drawing techniques – depth, dimension and shapes. Other art projects will include self-projects, portraits, still life and landscapes. The children will also explore crafts like clay, jewelry making, sewing and more.
